We provided civil and structural engineering design services for this four storey, 77-bed student accommodation development in the site of a former public house. The scheme was delivered for a private developer to serve the University of East Anglia.
The building was constructed using traditional masonry walls with a combination of precast concrete and timber floors, incorporating modular bathroom pods. Vibro-compaction was used to improve the ground conditions on the site where deep made ground and loose shallow soils were encountered to avoid the use of piled foundations.
