The Nook is a new purpose-built children’s hospice for EACH (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice) and replaces their previous premises which had been outgrown by the increasing demand upon their services.
The Nook is set in five acres of woodland environment and provides state of the art facilities including en-suite bedrooms, a hydrotherapy pool, music & sensory rooms as well as large areas of outdoor space.
The building is made up of a hybrid construction. The single storey accommodation wing is predominantly load bearing masonry with timber trussed roofs, whereas the rest of the building is a combination of both portalised and braced steel framing and load bearing masonry, utilising precast concrete ground and first floors and timber roofs.
The project was completely financed by fundraising which we are proud to have been part of. We held a charity golf day and took part in a sponsored cycling event, with all proceeds and sponsorship going to this very worthwhile cause.
