We provided the civil and structural engineering design for the new visitor centre at the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Norwich. The development is constructed on the site of the former Norwich Gaol and links the Grade I listed Cathedral to the existing church hall facilities, providing a new café, shop, educational area and associated amenities.
The structure was configured to suit the extremely limited access constraints, while using a steel frame to achieve the open plan requirements and traditional stonework façade. The scheme was funded in part through heritage lottery funding and it was recipient of the Sir Bernard Feilden Conservation Award for Excellence.
