This scheme included the new build primary and early years school located centrally with the Newhall housing development on the outskirts of Harlow in Essex. The design strives towards a high specification external finish to meet the masterplan developer’s aspirations for the development.

The school comprises 14 classrooms, a multi-use hall, catering kitchen, library and ancillary areas together with playground, car park and multi-use games area. The building is constructed using a two storey braced steel frame with exposed precast concrete floor and roof slabs to provide thermal mass. The early years school includes two classrooms and is also constructed using a single storey steel frame structure. The buildings incorporates a breathing buildings passive ventilation system and photovoltaic panels.
